According to the 2013 edition of NFPA 72 (the previous editions had similar language):

26.5.6.2 Upon receipt of an alarm, supervisory, or trouble
signal by the remote supervising station, the operator on duty
shall be responsible for immediately notifying the owner or
the owner’s designated representative, and where required,
the authority having jurisdiction.

NFPA requires notification, but does NOT state how that notification is to be made.
– phone calls
– interactive text messages
– standard text messages
– email
are all forms of notification, and Com-Linq Central Station is able to provide notification through any of these means.

Contact Meredith for questions about how to change the notification path.
